本研究中，研究人员发现单体RL增强了αSN透化膜的能力，而胶束RL迅速诱导具有蠕虫状原纤维外观的蛋白质β-折叠结构，这种结构不能接种无RL的神经元，而是比αSN原纤化更快地转变成线性原纤维。暴露于αSN会降低PA的生物膜形成程度，除非RL存在。

该研究结果表明，RL与αSN的相互作用可能影响αSN聚集和细胞毒性，可能牵涉微生物代谢物在帕金森病的发生和进展中。
