他们将18只新西兰白兔分成三组。分别将20、25或35mm的乳胶环带植入每只兔子的右眼角膜缘后面。对眼内压（IOP）进行持续8周的测量，之后通过眼底照相、光学相干断层扫描（OCT）和组织学等方法评估视神经损伤情况。同时，通过OCT和前房角镜检查前房角（ACA）。

结果发现，手术后，所有动物中都诱导建立OHT。IOP组在第1、2和第3组中分别达到38.0±3.7、32.0±3.9和24.1±6.5 mm Hg。虽然高眼压的持续时间略有变化，但高眼压在2周内表现出良好的一致性。视杯和视椎之间的面积比率在处理的眼中有73％的增加，并且在第1、2和3组中的平均变化分别为0.10±0.13、0.11±0.08和0.09±0.02。 在处理的眼睛中，视杯的深度增加，同时视网膜神经节细胞密度降低。

因此，他们认为，角膜缘屈曲提供了一种在兔中诱导产生慢性OHT和青光眼视神经病变的有效方法。
