ILC细胞主要包括ILC1,ILC2和ILC3三大类，ILC1和ILC3又包括几个不同的亚型，但目前对某些细胞亚型的分类仍不是特别清楚，并且对于NK细胞和ILC1细胞是否属于不同细胞类型仍存争议。为解决这些问题，Marco Colonna带领研究小组对小鼠脾脏，肝脏和肠的ILC细胞和NK细胞进行了基因表达谱分析，通过对结果分析发现某些ILC细胞具有专一的基因表达谱，而部分ILC细胞和NK细胞存在基因表达谱的重叠，但其他一些ILC细胞亚型仍难以区分。
 
综上所述，文章发现通过对小鼠不同器官的ILC细胞和NK细胞进行基因表达谱分析，部分解释了关于ILC细胞亚型的分类问题和ILC细胞与NK细胞基因表达谱的区别。这项研究对扩展人们对不同ILC细胞基因表达的认识具有重要意义。
