近日，刊登在国际杂志Science上的一篇研究论文中，来自密歇根州立大学的研究人员通过研究发现，名为ASF1A的基因在干细胞发育过程中发挥着重要作用；干细胞可以发育分化成为机体不同类型的细胞组织从而挽救人类的生命。

实际上ASF1A基因并不是本文的研究人员所发现的，该基因主要负责细胞的重编程，细胞的重编程即转变细胞的类型，这对于干细胞的分化至关重要。这项研究中，研究人员分析了卵母细胞中5000个基因，发现基因ASF1A、OCT4以及一种可溶性助手分子是细胞重编程中的重要组分。

研究者Elena Gonzalez-Munoz表示，本文研究揭示了干细胞发育的一项重大突破，如今我们揭示了成年体细胞比如皮肤细胞如何被转变成为胚胎干细胞，这或许可以帮助我们更清楚地理解这其中所涉及的机制及生物学过程。

2006年，来自密歇根州立大学的研究者从卵母细胞中鉴别出了主要负责细胞重编程的关键基因，2007年，来自日本的研究者通过将四种基因导入细胞中发现，胚胎干细胞在不利用卵细胞的情况下也可以产生，这些干细胞就是诱导多能性干细胞或iPSCs。研究者Jose Cibelli说道，基因ASF1A和OCT4可以与一种类激素物质（配体）连接起来发挥作用，进而促进细胞重编程的进程，这种类激素物质是在名为GDF9的卵母细胞中产生的。

研究者认为，ASF1A和GDF9是维持细胞重编程过程的两个重要角色，研究者希望通过后期更为深入的研究来揭示细胞重编程的更多奥秘，这有助于开发新型安全有效的细胞疗法，并为之提供一定的研究依据。
